May 23, 2012 – Resnick Law Group Prevails in Age Discrimination Trial

The Resnick Law Group obtained a $180,000 jury verdict in an age discrimination case filed in Passaic County. The verdict was issued in favor of a former Passaic County sheriff’s investigator who was laid off in 2008. The proofs at trial were largely statistical, focusing on the ages of the plaintiff compared to the ages of other similarly situated sheriff’s investigators who were not laid off or who were later recalled. The claims were filed under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, which prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of age, race, disability, gender, or any other protected class.
